Group Insurance Scheme need to review ?

The GIS was formulated before I joined the Railway and it was cutting of Rs. 30 since beginning for a sum assured of Rs.30000/-. The Amount may be handsome at the time of introduction of scheme but now a day, when a JE/SE or SSE are getting monthly payment of Rs.30000/-, what is the logic of that amt for a sufferer family?

The GIS need to review in current terms for Minimum 20-30 lakhs, since Rly is paying Rs.2 Lakhs for the passenger died in Rly accident with the minimum subscription. We Rly Er. are ready to pay rationalized amount for getting security of Family.

This is the idea generated after said demise of PWI & 5 other employee in GZB run over accident in Jan10. Er. Prasant Gupta JE/Works, New Delhi has initiated for the concept. Work & P-Way Er of DLI division collected 3 Lakhs & helped the families of PWIs. It was a noble cause made by our Engineers but Govt has to take such initiative for review of GIS in current term.
